Derrick and a Tie Car

This is another of my very early On30" models-I don't recall how I built it.  Looks like it is made from basswood with the usual compliment of GL parts.  The derrick is a freeform design made from wood dowel and styrene.  The pulley wheel is GL and the spool is a striker from a cigarette lighter.

This is one of the first On30" cars I built ca. 1990 or 91.  The width is 6' 6".  It is made from basswood and GL parts.  A piece of Code 100 rail is glued to the underside of the side sills.  Dry transfers are either S scale or HO scale CDS. Bettendorf trucks are used to give the effect that the original trucks had to be replaced.
