Roof

On the top of the stock roof casting, leave the roofwalk and grab irons.  On the bottom (inside), remove all the molded tabs and edges and sand smooth.  Glue a fascia strip on each side, butting against the raised edge.  The fascia ends are even with the recessed edge at the ends.

Vat Cores

Cut three cores from 1 1/4" PVC pipe.  Cuts need to be precise so that when standing on a flat surface, a square shows the cores are perpendicular.  Then sand the outside to remove the glossy finish.  Finally, use the square to mark numerous vertical lines around the perimeter.  They do not have to be evenly spaced.

Bents

The bents are built on a jig to help insure fidelity of size.  Construct the jig out of styrene--it needs to hold the long horizontals with the verticals in place.  Use the thinnest styrene possible so the bent will remove with little force.  Put holes in the back of the jig in order to remove the bent.  Once all are made, center a short horizontal on top of each bent. Note the black holes in the ends of the long horizontals.  Drill these with a .020 drill bit as these are the holes for the trussrods.

Locating the Bents and Vats

Mark a line down the center of the width (long way of car).  Then a line on the center of the length, this is V1 in the photo.  This is the center of the center vat.  For V2 and V3, measure on each side of V1 seven feet, zero inches and make a mark.  The centers of all three tanks are now located.  The vat holders need to be fitted to the inside of each vat and then can be glued on the center point.

From V1 measure over 3' 3" and draw lines.  These are T1 and T2 and are the inside edge of the bent, not the center. This means the inside edge of the two center bents are 3' 3" from V1.  Do the same for T3 and T4 except measure over 10' 6" (Photo 5).

Glue in the bents and use the roof to line them up.  They should be centered across the width and the short horizontals should fit between the fascia pieces.
